Taanti
Elegantly Earthy
Pure cotton that is exquisitely hand woven and handspun with jamdaani work inspired by Bhujodi design. Jamdani is a time-consuming and labour-intensive form of handloom weaving. The sheer cotton textiles are renowned for the richness of their motifs, which are woven directly on the loom. Bengali women wear Jamdani saris as a symbol of identity, dignity and self-recognition, both for everyday wear and at celebrations. The traditional motifs and weaving techniques are transmitted by master weavers to disciples and are handed down within families in the weaver community. On the other hand Bhujodi is home of the Vankars or Taanti’s of Kutch. The highlight of the Bhujodi weave is its treasury of fine motifs that bear names such as Dholki, Hathi & Vakhiyo etc. Created with the extra-weft technique, these designs represent the cultural mores of the weave’s wearer community. This saree brings you a contemporary one of a kind fusion of Bhujodi art used in pure Bengal Tangail cotton.
